Facilities Support Engineer - Instrumentation & Control

Role synopsis
Provide Instrumentation and Electrical expertise for the design and engineering of oil and gas handling facilities and gathering systems, having core experience in design & engineering and fair amount of knowledge of Process, Project management and Field Production Operations.
Job description

Key accountabilities
Perform basic and detailed I&E design activities including preparation of the following documents/drawings:
I&E Scope of Work (Construction Contractor / Control System Contractor)
Bill Of Materials
I/O Lists
Instrument Index
Control / ESD System Specifications
Instrument/Equipment Data Sheets
Cable Schedule
Cable Layout
Wiring diagrams / Loop Diagrams
Logic Diagram (Electronic / Pneumatics)
Electrical Single Line Diagram
Motor Control Schematics
Cable / Breaker Selection & Sizing
Control Valve / Instrument Calculations
Bid Evaluation Reports
Cost Estimations
Deliver safe, cost effective, optimum, and complete engineering in all
respects.
Should be able to undertake the engineering activities by self or as a lead.
Should be able to effectively follow up the activities of an Engineering
Consultant/ Contractor including reviews / comments on Basic & Detail Design
Drawings/Documents, completion and compliance with Codes, Standards, etc,
answering site queries, etc.........................
Should be able to handle the grass root level installation projects as well
as modification jobs in existing setups keeping in view the safe operation
of facilities.
Should be able to identify and analyze any quality lapses (in advance /
during document review) and suggest remedial action for improvement.
Assist Project Managers and other end user groups (Field Maintenance and
Production, etc.) to clarify design and engineering related issues.
Analyze capacity bottlenecks in I&E and suggest options for improvement or
remedial action.
Should have effective business communication skills (oral / written) to deal
with vendors and contractors.
Should be able to understand / review the P&IDs and Cause & Effect Matrix.
Co-ordinate with other discipline engineers, Departments, such as
maintenance, Procurement, Engineering Contractor / Consultant, Operations,
to ensure that all Technical, Operational and Safety Requirements etc. are
met.
Provide Technical support during construction, commissioning and handover
activities.
Workout sound technical solution to overcome engineering problem and
highlights these when they occur.
Provide Technical Support to other teams for Trouble shooting and
engineering solutions to Operations and Maintenance Teams.
Design or modify safety shutdown logic, i.e., unit shutdown, facility
emergency shutdown, etc.,
Be able to assist Teams nominated by the management for conducting process
Safety Studies ( e.g. HAZOP/ SIL etc)
Standardize I&E design procedures in line with BPP standard design
practices/ standards and other applicable industry codes, standards and
recommended practices
Suggest & implement action plan to meet discipline skill enhancement goal
for junior colleagues.
Essential Education
- Bachelor in Electrical/Electronics
Essential experience and job requirements
- 5 years Engineering Design Experience in Oil & Gas (upstream) / petro
chemical
Desirable criteria and qualifications
Masters in Engineering
Focus on Oil & Gas, Fertilizer, Polymer
Process Safety experience / qualification (SIL / SIS)
