SQL Server DBA // Washington​, DC

Work with other members of the database administration and development team and also the application development team to develop and maintain custom applications to support ACC’s core business systems; assist in maintaining all SQL Server databases in the ACC database farm; work with developers and specialist SQL Developer/DBAs in the development of procedures, triggers, SSIS packages; help troubleshoot and optimize SQL code while in development; design relational and analytical databases based on requirement documents provided by the project Management team; support other departments by providing assistance in creating or extracting data from ACC’s databases; provide technical expertise in cube design, dimensional modeling and OLAP reporting using Microsoft Suite of business intelligence offerings including Analysis Services, Reporting Services, Data Transformation Services and also IBM’s Cognos.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform all aspect of database administration including testing of all modifications, security administration, optimization, capacity planning, performance tuning under the supervision of the DBA manager.
Design, develop, enhance and support database applications
Develop stored procedures, triggers, views and functions
Modify/Create/maintain and optimize ETL Processes using SSIS
Create Data extraction and import programs
Liaise with network administrators, systems analysts, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems.
Interact with project management group to ensure accurate and comprehensive understanding of data and reporting requirements.
Develop, assist to develop and maintain all data warehouses, analytical databases, and business intelligence applications.
Assist in data reporting from ACC’s databases
Conduct research on emerging data warehouse and data integration technologies.
Provide issue escalation and resolution as well as timely execution of deadlines.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, or a related field.
Four to Seven years experience working with databases preferably SQL Server Databases.
Four to Seven years experience in developing ETL Processes including the use of SSIS packages in a Microsoft SQL server database environment together with an understanding and knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligence.

ESSENTIAL/SPECIFIC SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Working technical knowledge in database design, administration and development
Extensive experience working in the MS SQL Server 2005 and 2008, 2008 R2 environments.
Extensive experience and profound understanding of ETL/Data Warehouse technologies and Business Intelligence.
Understanding of database security and knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
Understanding of Data Modeling (both physical and logical)
Understanding and experience in Database/Metadata analysis and design
Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies.

DESIRED SKILLS:
Experience with Analysis services
A working knowledge of SQL Server high availability: clustering, mirroring, database replication
Understanding of Data modeling Tools
